5 of the Best Things to Do in Sarasota at Night

Immerse Yourself in the Arts

Did you know that Sarasota is a hub for the arts? Whether you’re looking for an evening of opera, orchestral music, or theater, you’ll be treated to a beautiful performance here. Head to a Sarasota Opera show or the Asolo Repertory Theatre for an unforgettable production. Or, head to the Ringling Museum for Art After 5, a weekly event held on Thursday nights. Between 5 and 8 p.m., you’ll be able to view the museum’s special collections and permanent displays. In addition to live shows, Sarasota also offers an after-dark art walk. We recommend venturing downtown on the first Friday of each month (starting at 6 p.m.) for the Palm Avenue First Friday Walk!

Shop, Sip, and Savor Your Way Through St. Armand’s Circle

Many of our properties are within walking distance of St. Armand’s Circle, one of Sarasota’s best spots for shopping and dining. While strolling past the shops and sidewalk cafes is a fabulous daytime activity, it’s even more special once the sun goes down. Enjoy the cool breeze and some after-hours retail therapy!

Cool Off with a Cocktail

If you can’t make Art After 5 at the Ringling Museum, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy a refreshing, tropical drink in Sarasota! You can always sip and savor from your vacation home’s private lanai, but a night out on the town is always within easy reach. Head over to St. Armand’s Circle, Siesta Village, or the downtown bayfront area for a lovely beach bar experience.

Experience Beach Rhythms

One of the cultural experiences that makes our area so unique is the Siesta Key Drum Circle. This iconic gathering is open to the public and features a crowd of performing musicians—mostly drummers—playing their music on the beach. The drum circle takes place every Sunday night after sunset on Siesta Beach, the best beach in the U.S.! All are invited to join the circle and dance to the rhythm. The event often carries on until after dark, ending when the fire dies down and the crowd disperses. Once you’ve paid a visit to the Siesta Key Drum Circle, you can enjoy a moonlit walk on the beach (or head back to your home away from home for a good night’s rest).
