Your Guide to the Best Time to Visit Sarasota

Spring

Spring is the best time to visit Sarasota. The weather is perfect from March through May, with temperature highs ranging from the mid-70s to the high-80s. There is very little rain during these months so you can stretch out on the pristine beaches and soak in the warm Florida sun! The spring is also a fantastic time to take part in many of the outdoor activities offered in the area. Fishing, kayaking, biking, and swimming are just some of the favorite ways to enjoy the weather here.

Summer

Sarasota is an incredibly popular destination in the summertime. The months of June, July, and August draw people from across the East Coast to our beautiful Gulf waters. Average temperatures stay in the low to mid-90s during that stretch of months. The average rainfall is at its highest during those three months, but that can serve as a nice break, so you don’t get too hot or sunburnt on the beach! The only downfall to visiting during this season is the large crowds that you’ll encounter in the city and around the public beaches. However, it’s still a fantastic time to experience Sarasota, especially since the prices are typically the lowest between June and August.

Fall

The fall, especially September through November, is arguably the best time to visit Sarasota. Temperatures start to drop to the mid-80s, presenting the perfect opportunity to lounge on the beach without getting too hot. Outside of September, the amount of precipitation doesn’t reach anywhere near as high as the summer months. The only downfall during this season is the possibility of a hurricane occurring along the Florida coast.

Winter

Snowbirds flock from the North to escape the cold winters from December through February. The temperatures are mild by Florida’s standards, with the average day reaching the mid-70s. You can get a taste of the beach as well as the burgeoning arts scene around town during this time of year. Unfortunately, the prices jump in the winter months, so expect to pay more for your trip. It’s still a great time to visit Sarasota, especially if your alternative involves freezing in a blizzard at home!
