A Guide to Sarasota’s Health & Wellness Community

Followed your bliss all the way to the Sarasota area? Now that you’re here, keep the positive vibes coming by immersing yourself in its culture of happy, healthy living.

Relaxing on the soft sand beaches is the best way to practice a little self care, but this area offers lots of ways to achieve a little inner peace—from goat yoga to biofeedback and everything in between. We’ve rounded up the top spots for pampering, healing, and holistic happiness.

Detoxification Stations

Get yourself a little salt therapy with a dip in the Gulf or head to the Salt Of The Earth Salt Therapy Center for a dedicated treatment that will improve breathing and treat respiratory issues. And if you’ve always wanted to try a sweat lodge, now’s your chance: Sarasota’s stylish Purify is an urban oasis where you’re guaranteed to leave with a healthy glow.

Day At The Spa

No matter where you’re staying, there’s an exceptional spa within reach. The Met Day Spa on St. Armands caters to those on the islands seeking a beautifully-appointed space and a well-trained staff of professionals. Near Siesta Key on the mainland there’s Mandala Med Spa, which offers a dynamic range of services and packages to suit any budget. In mid-Sarasota, visit Bloom Organics Day Spa, a cute boutique space with an elegant, intimate feel. Downtown, head to The Ritz-Carlton‘s gorgeous spa and salon, where you could spend several days getting treated and still not see the end of the services menu.

Namaste At The Studio (Or The Beach)

Some of the most popular yoga spaces in the area can be found downtown, such as The Yoga Shack and Pineapple Yoga Studio. Both of these offer a little something different for the practitioner, with the former being a warm power vinyasa studio and the latter providing cycling and other fitness classes, too. If you really want to sweat, try newly-renovated Bikram Yoga Sarasota, but if you’d rather go with the flow, tap into the Hatha method at Garden of the Heart. For a friendly, tailored approach, join a class at Feel Good Yoga on Longboat Key. Care for a little downward dog in the sand? Thrive offers classes on Anna Maria Beach or make a day of it and combine shark tooth hunting on Venice Beach with morning or sunset classes led by Yoga With Elin.

Commune With Wellness

Local health-lovers will tell you that Rosemary Court  is ground zero for not only yoga but a range of classes and workshops. Further south, Wild Ginger Apothecary offers its own little community of wellness-keepers, boasting an education lounge, yoga studio, and apothecary. We’ve all heard of shop ’til you drop, but in Sarasota, the shopping can also be purposeful and uplifting. Downtown, you’ll find that both The Crystal Cave and Pixie Dust Metaphysical Boutique have everything you need to create your own Zen oasis at home (and in your garden), while south Sarasota’s The OM Shoppe & Spa offers stunning decor that will bring some good vibes to your place.

Feed Your Soul

It’s not hard to eat well here, since the area’s culinary scene is a serious standout. But what about eating healthy? Some of our most beloved and well-reviewed spots are vegan-friendly, organic, and locavore-minded. In south Sarasota, catch lunch at Veg, where the all-vegetarian and seafood menu is completely decadent (chase with a nutrient-packed treat from CROP Juice next door). The same goes for downtown newcomer Lila, with its hearty Buddha Bowls, rich salads, and even richer veggie-driven plates. Simon’s Coffee House, a Sarasota favorite, has a dynamic menu of fresh, inventive soups, salads, and sandwiches that gets updated every single day. Spend a Sunday brunch at Sun Garden Cafe on Siesta Key and try a Bikini Bagel. Your spirit will thank you.
