A wooden footbridge leading to the beach

Our Blog

Spotlight On Our Team: Dallas

Dinner restaurant: So many great places in Sarasota. My home for 31 years has been Anna Maria, so if you want to think outside the box, try The Feast. It’s in a small shopping center on Anna Maria, and it’s AH-Mazing!! Make a reservation.

Breakfast spot: Anna Maria Oyster Bar on the Bridge Street Pier. Great view (I mean you are on a pier). Or try the Rod & Reel Pier on the north end of Anna Maria (another pier!). My favorite meal is breakfast, so it better be good.

On-the-waterfront dining: Beach Bistro on Anna Maria. The best bouillabaisse I have ever had.

Seafood restaurant: Do you know how many great seafood restaurants are in Sarasota? O.K., it’s not fancy, has been around way before I moved here in 1985, but I love it and it has NEVER disappointed: Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant at the north end of Longboat on the bay.

Deli: Harry’s Continental Kitchen

Grocery store: Publix for everyday, but Morton’s Gourmet Market is my guilty pleasure.

Cocktail hour spot: The Doctors Office. I just love telling people I’m going to The Doctors Office. There is a great story behind this–check it out.

Retail store: Oh My Gauze! It’s what I wear.

Jewelry store: Terra’s Handmade Jewelry and Gifts. Silver is my thing.

Coffee shop: My home or Starbucks

Nature attraction: For little kids, Sarasota Jungle Gardens. It’s been here forever and never disappoints. TreeUmph! Adventure Course if you want to get physical. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is beautiful.  No matter how many times I go, I always want to go back.

Beach: White Avenue. Kind of a secret, so ask me if you want to know more.

Water activity: Chasing my granddaughter on the beach. I use to do many water sports; now I just float.

Museum/gallery: Ringling is a must. It’s Sarasota’s gem; however, there are lots of local artists, so check out all the art shows during season.

Movie theater:  Burns Court

Event: The start of tourist season

Tourist Attraction:  Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium

Sunset or sunrise? Sunrise. I love watching and hearing nature wake up.

Locally-made product you love? Siesta Key Rum. Take the tour.

Local secret/hidden gem? Not sharing!

Worth the drive: Bern’s Steak House, and the veranda at the Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club.

Sarasota Bucket List:  Wow, not sure what I haven’t done. Oh, buy a beachfront home.

Where are you from? Minnesooota
