Now thru 8/10/08: Phantasmagoria: Spectors of Absence. Mist, breath, and fog are often associated with mystery; in their double status as perceptible yet almost nonexistent phenomena, they suggest evanescence or absence. The mysterious world of vapor evokes a dreamlike state inviting the viewer to suspend the harshness of reality for some otherworldly space.

Exhibit runs from July 10 through August 9, 2008. "MARC A.R.T." Manasota Association of Retarded Citizens and Artistic Realization Technologies. ArtCenter Manatee in collaboration with Manasota ARC is proud to present the artwork from the A.R.T. program in the Searle and Kellogg Galleries. A.R.T.'s system uses able-bodied people as "hands" for the handicapped who direct the painting by choosing color, technique and shape and who sometimes guide the brush with a light beam strapped to their heads. The technique of Time Lefens and Artistic Realization Technologies provide a creative outlet to thsoe without a means of expressing themselves. Not as art therapy but as Art.
