Fishing

Florida is an angler's paradise. Please be aware that anglers must buy a saltwater fishing license when fishing in the coastal waters of the state or taking marine species. The license is required for finfish, shellfish and shells. For more information on fishing, visit www.MyFlorida.com/fwc or call 1(888) Fish-Florida.

Quick Point Nature Preserve
Healthy wetlands and mangroves provide a number of essential benefits to Sarasota Bay. These habitats provide food and shelter to bay life, filter pollutants and help to protect shorelines from erosion. Over the past 50 years, development has caused a decline in the quantity and quality of Sarasota Bay’s wetlands. The public acquisition and restoration of Quick Point is a shining example of what can be done to protect and re-establish this unique and vital habitat.

Bicentennial Park
Many cyclists and walkers (and butterflies and birds) know Bicentennial Park is a lovely place to enjoy a pause. The one-acre park, owned by the Town, is a restful, partly sunny/partly shady garden spot just off the bikepath on the corner of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Bay Isles Road, west of Town Hall. The park was first established through the efforts of the Town’s Bicentennial of the Constitution Committee in cooperation with Arvida Corporation and was dedicated July 4, 1976.
