The Most Romantic Restaurants in Sarasota and Her Islands

While the Sarasota area in general enjoys a robust culinary scene, you don’t have to go far from Longboat Key to have a distinctive meal in a romantic setting. In fact, it’s often the opposite case, with city dwellers crossing the bridge to partake in the Key’s dreamy restaurants, which are often poised on the water.

One of the area’s most renowned – and established – of these is Euphemia Haye, a cozy eatery you’ll almost miss driving by, given the lush flora all around it. Since 1980, Chef Raymond Arpke and his wife D’Arcy have been serving delicious contemporary continental dishes in the cozy environs of their restaurant. Upstairs, there’s the equally-cozy Haye Loft, where live music (often jazz), light bites and cocktails are available. Locals never miss the Loft’s Dessert Room. It doesn’t get more romantic than a dinner date here, noshing on Pistachio-Crusted Snapper or Euphemia’s famous Crisp Roast Duckling.

Nearby Maison Blanche is an award-winning French establishment, a gorgeous space that feels special as soon as you walk in. The modern intimate setting perfectly showcases the Parisian-inspired menu, which includes an exceptional ribeye steak and Chilean sea bass. The food is decadent – and so is the wine list.

Just south of Longboat Key on Siesta Key, another local favorite Ophelia’s on the Bay is beloved not only for its food but for its prime spot on Sarasota Bay. Even if you’re dining inside, the walls are glass, so the decor here really is the beauty outside. On the table, you’ll find American cuisine at its finest with an emphasis on elegantly-prepared seafood.

At Harry’s Continental Kitchen, there’s no shortage of romance, even if the restaurant also embraces a more casual vibe. You can dine al fresco here or inside the sweet, serene dining room. Chef Harry Christensen and his team have been serving their sophisticated fare to the Longboat and Sarasota community for 40 years, and it shows. The food is divine – sophisticated, savory and very Florida.

As some of the most popular restaurants among diners in Sarasota and her islands, reservations are a must so don’t wait! Book your table in advance and plan for a spectacular night out on your next Longboat Key vacation!
